I went way over on my carbs today, but I don't feel too bad about it. I didn't anything too awful (except for the latte & equal), but it was oh so delicious.

I vow to keep my carbs LOW today. I went way overboard yesterday.

S - 4 strawberries, 1/4c. blueberries, 9 pecan halves, 2tsp. coconut flakes

Gotta stop later night snacking!! - 6 dried pineapple slices (bad bad bad!)

Carbs = 71.2g 179.5g

Good day today despite having a really weird dinner:). I am so in love with that celery, carrot & almond salad. I think I'll omit the honey next time to see if I like it as much without the added sweetness. Super yummy!!

Update: Had a few slices of dried pineapple (with sugar in the ingredients) this evening. I have GOT TO STOP doing this. I am caving and it's killing my morale. :(

Fat Challenge Day 24 - 8.23.09

B - Paleo pancake (1/2c. ground almonds, 1/4c. coconut milk, 1 egg, 1 tsp. honey, 2 tsp. maple syrup, 1tbs. coconut oil), 4 med. strawberries, 1/4c. blueberries.
*Decided to double the amount of almonds to help thicken up the pancake. It definitely worked! However, I am horrible at flipping these things b/c they fall apart so easily. Next time I'll use a plate. I also burned it, but it was still yummy with the maple syrup:).

L - 8oz. tilapia, 30 pistachios, 2tsp. sunbutter

S - 15 pistachios

D - 5 buffalo wings, 2c. celery, carrot & almond salad

S - 4tsp. sunbutter, 2 now-&-later candies (I totally caved), 30 pistachios

Later that night... 1/4c. dried prunes. Seriously bad eating/snacking day!

Hung around the house for most of the day (hence all the snacking). But I did go shopping and tried on a few clothes today. I am just shy of two sizes smaller in pants & dresses! :)

Too many carbs today, I caved and snacked on prunes while making dinner. The tilapia was delicious. I also had quite a bit of sunbutter today. It was somewhat of an acquired taste, but now I really love it! It helps me keep peanut butter out of my diet:).

D - ~4.5oz. steak, romaine lettuce, 30 pistachios. I had the worst meal in a long time tonight. I don't plan to ever go back to Poor Billy's in Blacksburg, VA again. Horrible service, microwaved bread (which I didn't eat), and about half of the steak I got was hard grisly fat.

Carbs = 87.1g

Down another 2lbs.! This brings my total weight loss to 10lbs. since I started the zone diet and then 22 days of paleo-ish diet.

I feel really good and the cravings aren't nearly as bad as they used to be. Football/tailgating season is coming up in a few short weeks, though. That will be the real test! :)

S - 1 banana (they are going bad!), 4 strawberries, 1/4c. blueberries, 9 pecans, 2tsp. coconut flakes

Carbs = 87.5g

I know I need to lay off the fruit if I want to lose weight, but the fruit is just so DELICIOUS right now and it is really helping with my sweet cravings. Once fall hits, I plan to switch to pretty much all veggie for my carbs. Until then, I plan to eat as much fruit as my 80 or so grams of carbs will allow:).

Broke my vow to eat only humanely raised/slaughtered meat today by eating a burger at Red Robin. It definitely wasn't as good as the hamburger we get from Ellett Valley Beef Co., but I still think it's better to eat meat out occasionally than to eat that soy crap.

Body comp is starting to show improvement, especially around the waist/hips!

Tough to keep my carbs down today. I was really wanting to eat my way through the bananas & dried prunes in the house:).

Side note: I am the master of the grill now. I have wrestled the title from Adam due to my recent success on the grill. I now understand why men are so in love with grilling, it's fast, fun and there's practically NO clean-up! :)

No sleep last night (~3 hours), so I'm feeling a little rough this morning:).

B - 2oz. coffee (couldn't drink it black), 2 fried eggs + 1.5c kale w/pine nuts + 30 almonds

L - Meat sauce w/spaghetti squash (~2c.), 21 almonds, 6 brazil nuts

S - 12 brazil nuts, 12 almonds, 2 hard-boiled eggs

S - 12 pecans

D - 1 chicken leg (thigh & leg, tandoori marinade), 2c. cauliflower, 15 almonds, 2 hard-boiled eggs

S - 1c. raisins (okay, I was weak, what can I say?), 9 brazil nuts

Carbs = 186.1g!!!

(The raisins were 114.8g of carbs - totally killed the day for me, but they were quite yummy.)

Fat Challenge Day 14 - 8.13.09

I have been bad... I've been weighing despite my promise not to. I'm up 2lbs. from yesterday! Although, yesterday, I was down 2lbs. So basically, I haven't lost any weight despite cutting out refined carbs for about 2 weeks and keeping all carbs under 100g/day (most of the time pretty close to 80g). I'm keeping with it in hopes that eventually the weight will drop off. I finished off another jar of natural peanut butter last night, so maybe that's the problem? I plan to cut that out going forward, as well as continue to limit my consumption of Crystal Light.

I need to get back to doing CrossFit as well. I've taken almost a week off, but that's enough.

I did walk both dogs last night, though! :)

B - 2 eggs (fried), 1.5c. kale w/pine nuts, 30 almonds

L - Meat sauce w/spaghetti squash (~2c. total), 21 almonds, 6 brazil nuts

S - 15 almonds

D - 1 chicken leg (thigh & drumstick, tandoori marinade) + 2c. roasted cauliflower w/garam marsala + 30 almonds

S - 1c. frozen berries (thawed) + 9 pecan halves + 2tsp. coconut flakes

Carbs = 73.3g

Well, I decided to take measurements today to see if I'd lost any inches since the weight isn't coming off the scale. And I've lost about an inch off every part I measured (waist, hips, thigh, calf). So that makes me feel a little better! :) Last time I measured was June 2009.

Had a really weird dream last night, I was about to eat a plate of macaroni & cheese that magically transformed into french fries and then I realized, "Wait a minute, NEITHER of those are paleo" :)haha.

Still feeling achy & "hot behind the eyes". Adam thinks I might be getting swine flu:).

S - 1/8c. blueberries, 4 strawberries, 2tsp. peanut butter (NO MORE PB TODAY!)

D - Meat sauce w/ spaghetti squash, 21 almonds

S - 4 strawberries, 1 banana, 6 pecan halves, 2tsp. coconut flakes, 1tsp. maple syrup

Carbs = 98.5g *extra banana put me over the top, but it would have gone bad.

Super weak today & achy in the afternoon/evening. Hope I'm not getting sick!
